ARCADIS Mr. Eric Rapport
April 21, 2011
Surface Water Monitoring
During the first quarter 2011, the additional surface water and test pit water samples
were collected as outlined in the Tech Memo. During the January 18 and 19 event,
surface water samples were collected from eleven sample locations (River Upstream,
River Downstream, River Across, River Across 1, River Across 2, River Across 3,
River Across 4, River Across 6, River Across 7, River Across 8, and River Across 11)
along the Feather River and from three test pit sample locations (TP-1, TP-2, and TP-
3) adjacent to the Feather River(Figures 2 and 7). One duplicate sample was
collected from surface water and one from a test pit during the January 2011 event.
Surface water and test pit samples collected from the Feather River were submitted to
TestAmerica with appropriate chain-of-custody documentation for analysis of the
following analytes:
00 VOCs and Ethanol by EPA Method 8260B
co TPHg (surface and test pit samples)and methanol (surface water samples only) by
EPA Method 8015
00 alkalinity by EPA Method SM2320B
co TDS by EPA Method 40 CFR 136/160.1
00 major cations: sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium by EPA Method 200.7
00 major anions: bicarbonate, carbonate, sulfate, chloride, nitrate, nitrite, and
phosphate by EPA Method 300.0
00 Oil and grease by EPA Method 1664A
Surface Water and Test Pit Sampling Results
Surface water sampling results were generally consistent with previous sampling
events. Benzene and ethanol were not detected above the reporting limit in the
surface water or test pit during the first quarter sampling event. The surface water
analytical data is summarized in Tables 5 and 6, respectively. Laboratory data
packages are provided in Attachment 2.
Soil Gas Monitoring
ARCADIS staff conducted on-site soil gas monitoring activities on January 17,
February 11, and March 11, 2011. Monitoring points VEW-01, VEW-02, VEW-03,
SGP-1, SGP-2, MW-01, MW-12, MW-13, and the basement of Rental Unit#1 were
monitored for methane, carbon dioxide, and oxygen (using a Landtec°GEM 2000
1\Arcadis-us\officedatalFolsom-CA\Aproject\UPRR\RC000738-UP RR-StorrieTeliverables\QuarterlyReports120111Q1-2011VIinaltedlQ-2011StorrieStatus Rpt(4-21- Page'
11).doc 5/9
