The plan proposes the abandonment of a background well, MW-3
and the construction of a replacement well, MW-3r at a like hydrogeologic location. The reason for
abandoning MW-3 is the sale and future development of the lot where the well is located.
The proposed location for MW-3r is upgradient of the former lime ponds, in a like hydrogeologic
location to MW-3. The work plan proposes to drill, construct and develop a two-inch monitor well with
a 20-foot well screen. In order to monitor background groundwater chemistry the well should be
screened at first water.
Your plan to abandon MW-3 and construct a replacement well MW-3r is approved. Any changes to this
plan must be submitted to board staff for approval. On completion of this work you must submit a report
that, provides a geologic log and well construction details of the new well, and documents how the work
was done.
Board records indicate that monitoring reports for your site have not been submitted since First Quarter
1999. Also, we have not received a report documenting the wells installed last summer and providing an
updated geologic interpretation of site conditions. Submittal of these reports is required by your waste
discharge requirements and failure to submit them is a violation of those requirements. Please submit
the First Quarter 2000 monitoring report and a report on last years work by 1 May 2000.
If you have any questions please call me at (916) 255-3814.
i>
ROSS D.
