The following sample locations were selected
based on the 16 October 1998 phone conference with Adam Grover(Grover Landscape Services), Bing
Kirk(Atherton Kirk Development Company), David Sholes (Twining Labs) and myself.
Twelve additional soil samples should be collected and analyzed from the following locations. Two
samples should be taken from each of the two storm water runoff ponds used during your operation at
this site. Five samples should be collected from the perimeter of the composting area from areas not
affected by composting operations. These samples will determine background concentrations for the
constituents of concern. Three additional samples should be collected from within the composting area
to supplement the five samples collected previously. As noted in the phone conference, the exact sample
locations can be determined in the field to ensure representative samples. All sample locations should be
noted on a facility map with the final closure report. The constituents of concern are those listed in Table
2 of your facility's waste discharge requirements (WDRs).
If you have any questions, please call me at(916) 255-3131.
STEVE E.
