KLEINFELDER
6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
6.1 CONCLUSIONS
The conclusions from this investigation are as follow:
o Depth to static water level ranges from 45.91 to 51.86 over the area of the
monitoring well network. A ground water flow to the northeast with a
hydraulic gradient of 0.069 percent was calculated from this data. Based on
this information, the Harvest:Glen site is upgradient of the Georgia-Pacific
site and the Triple E site. The ground water flow direction measured on
November 29, 1988, is not constant and may change due to localize pumping
and natural hydrological influences.
o Sediments underlying the Harvest Glen property are composed mainly of
sands and gravels with interbedded days, silts, and silty sand.
o Trihalomethane constituents measured in a sample collected from city water
(used for well construction purposes) may be a by-product of chlorination
treatment procedures.
o Laboratory results indicate halogenated volatile organics were not detected
in the water samples collected from the monitoring wells. Therefore, offsite
r
contamination does not appear to be of concern within the monitoring well
IE
network (at the time of sampling) and under current ground water flow and
direction.
6.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
o Ouarterly monitoring of the static-water,elevations is recommended for the
purposes of constructing ground water gradient and direction of ground
water flow maps. A change;in the flow direction may result in an offsite
source of known ground water contamination to potentially flow onto the
site.
156-88-2362 9
iEj
