Inspection to be done daily prior to arrival at the site. <br /> 2. Look at the shape of the facepiece for possible dis- <br /> tortion that may occur if it is not protected during <br /> storage. <br /> 3. Check: the facepiece for dirt , cracks, tears or holes. <br /> #� The rubber should be flexible, not stiff . Also check <br /> the lens for cracks. <br /> 4. All straps and buckles must be attached. Check straps <br /> for elasticity and worn serrations. <br /> { 5. Check the exhalation valve located near the chin be- <br /> tween the cartridges: <br /> a. Unsnap the cover. <br /> b. Lift' the valve and inspect the seat and valve for <br /> cracks, tears, dirt and distortion. <br /> C. Replace the cover. It should spin freely. <br /> 6. Check: both inhalation valves (inside the cartridge <br /> holders) . Look for same signs as above. <br /> 7. Make sure the cartridge holders are clean. Make <br /> sure the gaskets are in place and the threads are <br /> not worn. Also look for cracks and other damage. <br /> S. Check; the cartridges for dents or other damages, <br /> Y <br /> especially in the threaded part. <br /> 8. 1.2 Donning Procedures <br /> 1. Screw the cartridge into the holder hand tight so <br /> there is a good seal with the gasket in the bottom <br /> of the holder , but don 't farce it. If the cartridge <br /> won 't go in easily, back it out and try again. <br /> Always use cartridges made by the same manufacturer <br /> who made the respirator. <br /> i <br /> �� - 12 - <br />
