' specification 013AIBOO metal cylinder. To prevent leakage <br /> fill container no more than 90% full (at 130 F) . <br /> 2. Seal sample container. <br /> 3. Complete sample identification tag and attach securely to <br /> ' sample container. <br /> t 4. Attach string or flexible wire to neck of the sample con- <br /> tainer; lower it into metal cylinder partially filled with <br /> noncombustible, absorbent cushioning material (i .e. diatoma- <br /> ' ceous earth or vermiculite) . Place only one container in <br /> a metal cylinder. Pack with enough absorbing material be- <br /> tween the bottom and sides of the sample container and the <br /> metal cylinder to prevent breakage and absorb leakage. <br /> After the cushioning material is in place, drop the end <br /> { of the string or wire into the cylinder valve hole. <br /> 5. Replace valve$ torque to 250 ft/lb (for 1-inch opening) , and <br /> replace valve protector on metal cylinder , using teflon tape. <br /> i <br /> 6. Place one or more cylinders in a DOT-approved outside con- <br /> tainer. <br /> 11 .4.2 Marking/Labeling <br /> 1 . Use abbreviations only where specified. <br /> ` 2. Place following information, either hand-printed or in <br /> label form, on the side of the cylinder or on tag wired <br /> ' to the cylinder valve protector. <br /> a. "PO sonous Liquid, n.o. s. NA9035" or Poisonous Gas, <br /> n.o.s. NA9035" . <br /> b. Laboratory name and address. <br /> ' C. DDT label "Poisonous Gas" (even if sample is liquid) on <br /> cylinder. <br /> ±' 3. Put all information on metal cylinder on outside container. <br /> 4. Print "Laboratory Sample" and "Inside Packages Comply With <br /> Prescribed Specifications" on top and/or front of outside <br /> container. Mark "This Side Up" on top of container and up- <br /> ward pointing arrow on all four sides. <br /> 11.4.3 Shipping Papers <br /> Use abbreviations only as specified. <br /> #r 2. Complete carrier-provided bill of lading and sign certifi- <br /> cation statement (if carrier does not provide, use standard <br /> industry form) .
