CHEVRON PIPE LINE TRACY RESERVOIR
HISTORY
The concrete reservoir was built in the late 1920's to store locomotive
fuel oil sold to Southern Pacific Railroad Company.
The concrete reservoir was approximately 550 ft. outside diameter and
could hold up to 750,000 barrels of locomotive fuel.
- The locornotive fuel oil was manufactured at the Standard Oil Company
of California Richmond Refinery then pumped via pipeline to the Tracy
reservoir.
In 1957, operations ceased at the Tracy reservoir due to the switch
from locomotive fuel oil to diesel by the railroads. According to an
annuitant's survey, the concrete reservoir was squeegeed clean of oil.
In 19621. Standard Oil Company of California sold the property to four
farmers.
In September of 1986, Chevron Pipe Line was contacted by the City of
Tracy regarding oily dirt in the Alden Park area. We are currently
conducting an environmental site assessment of the area.
Chevron Pipe Line, 7/87
idl
?V4
3d-r5 A_ c
