Summary of Violations
(CLASS I, CLASS II, or MINOR-Notice to Comply)
Item #
102 CCR 66262.11 Failed to determine if a waste is a hazardous waste.
-Paint waste was observed on the ground. The EHS Manager is not sure how the waste
is disposed of. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a
hazardous waste.
Response
Paint waste was generated from the conveyer line as parts were cleaned with a
pressurized antistatic gun prior to entering into the paint booth. The debris on the
floor was swept up and disposed of in our 55 gallon steel drums that are used for
storing liquid paint hazardous waste. The employee at that station was trained to
keep the antistatic gun trained on the parts and not directed at the conveyer above
the parts. This has greatly reduced debris particles from falling on the floor. When
they do fall to the floor, they are cleaned and disposed of in the 55 gallon drums.
