The groundwater grab samples will be labeled, packaged, and stored on ice in an insulated chest
for transport under chain-of-custody manifest to a California-certified analytical laboratory.
Groundwater sampling procedures are presented in Appendix A.
4.4 Laboratory Analyses
The soil samples will be submitted to Sparger Technology, Inc., a California-certified analytical
laboratory, for analysis. The analyses will be conducted on a normal turn-around basis in
general accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specified holding times.
The analyses will be performed in general accordance with the following EPA methods listed.
Matrix Analyses
Soil/water Gasoline Analysis Package EPA Method 8015/8020
Soil/water Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel Modified EPA Method 8015
Soil/water Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Oil Modified EPA Method 8015
Soil/water Fuel Oxygenate Compounds EPA Method 8260B
Soil/water Volatile Organic Compounds EPA Method 8260B
Soil Organolead Title 22 CCR Division 4.5,Chap. 11,App.XI
Soil Lead EPA 7000 Series
Soil pH EPA Method 9045A
Ten percent of samples will be analyzed for pH.
Samples testing positive for methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) with the gasoline analysis
package will be further analyzed using EPA 8260B.
Organolead will be run for all soil samples, with any positives additionally assessed using EPA
7000 Series for lead only. If lead is encountered in concentrations above background levels,
EPA 8260B will be run in order to determine if any organic fraction is present.
IT will notify and discuss results with the Contract Manager prior to approving any of these
additional analyses.
4.5 Investigation-Derived Waste Disposal
Drill cuttings and wash water generated during the field investigation will be contained for
disposal in 208-liter(55-gallon) drums, approved by the United Nations for transport of liquid
and solid wastes. The drums will be stored at a Caltrans specified location, pending disposal.
SAGDP-N.-VancjpMrojectA8M34760\wkpin&hsp\SR 120 wp.doc A
2R5r02 Y
