wood.
Secondary Containment Assessment Tank Name/marking: 275 Gal. Waste
Antifreeze Tank
The secondary containment calculations provided for on this page are for
secondary containment systems that utilize a double walled tank for
containment.
The Snyder Industries, Inc. tank is double-walled with the outer tank capacity at
115-120% of the inner tank. No additional secondary containment is required.
See SII assembly drawing in Attachment 3.
Design of tank 66265.193(e)(3):
The tank is a dual containment tank with a blended form octagonal outer
secondary tank made of natural color (white) HDLPE resin. The inner tank is also
constructed of a natural color (white) HDLPE resin via rotational molding, with a
wall thickness equal to or greater than ASTM D-1998 standards. The double wall
tank construction encloses and interlocks the outer and inner tank to prevent rain
and debris from the entering the outer containment. The outer containment tank
bottom has integral 4-inch-high forklift channels made of the HDLPE resin. The
intended use of the tank is compatible with manufacturer chemical resistance
recommendations (SG = 1.9 or less). The tank top has a threaded 14-inch
diameter black plastic lid (manway) with an inner 5-inch vented cap. No leak
detection equipment monitors the annular space. The interstitial chamber is
visually checked as part of routine monitoring and maintenance.
Visual observations of containment area 66265.193(f):
Provide a brief description of the condition of the tank. No tank structural damage
or inadequate construction or installation was observed (no cracks, punctures, or
damaged fittings). The tank system has no tertiary containment (i.e., berm or
sloped floor) and there are no nearby storm drains. The tank is filled using the
electric pump and associated hose piping. The level of fluid in the tank is visible
through the tank wall; the level is monitored visually by the technician during the
transfer process to prevent overfilling. The transfer process is manually
started/stopped and never left unattended. Any failure in the conveyance piping
(i.e., seep, spray, etc.) would be observed by the technician and properly
addressed. The secondary containment system meets the requirements
described in 22 CCR §66265.193.
Secondary Containment findings: The secondary containment system is of
sufficient capacity and condition for the containment of releases from II tank
and ancillary equipment.
