We have <br /> also reviewed the Addendum to Amended Report of Waste Discharge (ROWD) dated 31 <br /> March 2006. Below are several comment on the reports requiring a response: <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Report and Annual Summary Comments <br /> Specific Comment <br /> Item 2.p. of the Attached Checklist - The current monitoring report field data sheets for <br /> groundwater sampling are overly simplified. Modified field data sheets will be submitted in <br /> future reports starting with the 2nd quarter 2006 monitoring report due on 31 July 2006. These <br /> modified field data sheets shall include at a minimum for each well the purge quantities, <br /> disposition of the purge water, rate at which groundwater is purged and sampled, calculation <br /> of purge volumes, total depth of well, equipment calibration, etc. <br /> General Comments: <br /> The Discharger has recommended the frequency of monitoring and sampling at the Ripon Mill <br /> be reduced from quarterly to semi-annual monitoring and sampling. Board staff does not <br /> agree with the recommendation. Groundwater quality beneath the Fox River site continues to <br /> be impacted by plant process water. The severity of the impacts has not been established <br /> because background constituent concentrations have not been established and therefore <br /> Water Quality Protection Standards (WQPSs) for the site does not exist. <br /> California Environmental Protection Agency <br /> �p�Recycled Paper <br />
