Mr. Hayes indicated that he has received analytical results for groundwater samples collected
from shallow wells OB-9, OB-11, OB-12, and OB-13, as well as data for the sludge samples and the soil
samples collected from the road south of the inactive pond. Additionally, I spoke with Mr. Hayes on the
telephone on 8 August 2000. Mr. Hayes indicated that RMT feels that the data collected supports the
opinion that the sludge material should be considered an inert waste. RMT is planning to prepare a
report documenting the sampling that has occurred to date, and presenting the data and their
interpretation for Regional Board review. The report should include a map showing the sample
locations, an appendix with all laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation, as well
as the discussion of the results.
We understand that Fox River would like to move forward on this project as soon as possible, and we
look forward to receiving documentation of the additional sampling very soon. Staff will conduct their
review of the report as soon as possible.
WENDY W.
