STATE OF CALIFiiRNIA7 .
GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN Governor.
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WAE31UALITY CONTROL BOARD—
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION 0
, ,
3443 ROUTIEF ROAD
SACRAMENTO. CA 95827-3098 fi '"
5 May 1988
Mr. Dennis Abrahamson
Simpson Paper Company, Ripon Mill
Post Office Box 757
Ripon, CA 95366
GROUND WATER MONITORING PROPOSAL, SIMPSON PAPER MILL, SAN JOA QUIN
COUNTY
We have reviewed your proposal for ground water monitoring at the
Simpson Paper Mill in Ripon. As I discussed with you and David
Lawrence of Lawrence & Associates, the proposal appears to
include more than a sufficient number of wells to monitor ground
water quality up and down gradient of the wastewater disposal
fields and holding ponds. It would improve the proposal, for our
monitoring purposes, to locate some of the proposed wells in the
disposal fields and at the eastern and western perimeter of the
disposal fields. With these changes the monitoring network
should be sufficient to provide information we will require in
the monitoring order to be included with the revised waste
discharge requirements.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me
at (916) 361-5681.
e
ROBERT L.
