Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
' in three samples collected from 10 feet bgs were slightly higher than in the samples collected
from 5 feet bgs in the same boring.
The only visible or olfactory indications of TPH impact in AOI 5 was hydrocarbon odor observed
at 11 feet bgs at Boring OU2-A015-S2 (see Appendix A). The concentrations of TPHd and
TPHmo in sample OU2-A015-S-2-10/11 were 720 mg/kg and 1,400 mg/kg, respectively, greater
than concentrations in the sample collected from 5 feet bgs (2.8 mg/kg of TPHd and <50 mg/kg
of TPHmo).
As show in Table 7, the only VOC detected at concentrations exceeding analytical reporting
limits was acetone in samples from the "replacement" borings. The only SVOC detected was
phenol at 0.35 mg/kg in sample OU2-A015-S-4-10/11. The detected concentrations of acetone
and phenol are less than the respective residential PRGs.
The analytical results indicate that hydrocarbons have been released in AOI 5. The highest TPH
concentrations were observed in shallow soil, however, TPH was present at elevated
concentrations at a depth of 10 feet bgs in Boring OU2-A015-S2.
5.4.4 OU-2 AOI 5 Groundwater Sample
A groundwater sample was collected from Boring OU2-A015-S1 and analyzed for TPHd,
TPHmo, and VOCs. As shown in Table 8, the sample contained TPHd at a concentration of
200 pg/1. TPHmo and VOCs were not detected at concentrations exceeding analytical reporting
limits.
5.4.5 OU-2 AOI 6 Soil Samples
As described in Section 2, AOI 6 includes the former roundhouse area, including the turntable,
' engine pit, and various former structures. Soil samples collected from AOI 6 were analyzed for
Title 22 metals, TPHd, TPHmo, VOCs, and SVOCs.
' 5.4.5.1 OU-2 AOI 6 Soil Samples — Metals
Analytical results for the Title 22 metals are summarized in Table 6 with the respective PRG and
CHHSL comparison values. Beryllium, selenium, and thallium were not detected at
concentrations exceeding analytical reporting limits in any of the 19 soil samples collected in
AOI 6. Silver was detected at a low concentration in one sample. As in other area of OU-2,
arsenic was detected in the 19 soil samples collected from AOI 6 at concentrations ranging from
4.7 to 17 mg/kg.
The lead concentration in sample OU2-A016-S-3-0/0.5 (1,400 mg/kg) exceeded the PRGs but
' not the industrial CHHSL. The concentrations of antimony, copper, silver and zinc in this sample
were the highest observed among the soil samples collected from OU-2. This sample also
contained 16 mg/kg of arsenic. The antimony, copper, and zinc concentrations in this sample
' did not exceed the respective PRGs or CHHSLs.
•
DRAFT Phase I Remedial Investigation Report Page 26
Former Tracy Railyard, Tracy, California
g:\is-group\admin\job105\0565777.18_uprr\09-reports\ri rpt\text.doc
