Pep Boys#711
Introduction
Pep Boys Store#711 is located at 4967 West Lane, Stockton, California 95210-3509. In the
servicing of vehicles, Pep Boys collects used (waste) oil. Used oil is a hazardous substance under
California law. Used oil is temporarily stored in the Waste Oil Tank. This tank is the subject of this
report.
Pep Boys employees drive customers'vehicles into the service bays. Waste oil is drained from the
vehicles into waste oil "caddies", which are portable containers designed for the purpose. When
full, a caddie is rolled to the Waste Oil Tank and its contents transferred via a double diaphragm
pump. When the tank is full, its contents are pumped into a tank on a licensed waste
transporter's truck by the truck's on-board pump.Temporary hoses are used for all waste oil
transfers.
Figures 1 and 2 are a site location map and an aerial photograph of the site. Figure 3 shows the
tank's location at the facility. Figure 4 is a schematic drawing and Figure 5 is a manufacturer's
drawing of the tank.Tables I through V list information required by Section 665265.192 and
66265.193 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR).Additional information is provided in this
introduction and the Assessment section which follows.
Photos of the system are included in Appendix A, and seismic, hydraulic, concrete and soil
calculations are in Appendix B. Appendix C contains equipment specifications, and Appendices D
and E list qualifications of the engineer and inspector.
On the following pages is an assessment of the hazardous waste tank system. This assessment
was conducted in accordance with the requirements of CCR Sections 66265.192 and
66265.193. This assessment addresses only the requirements of these code sections for
hazardous waste tank systems. It is not intended to cover compliance of the system, either in
design or operation, with other laws and regulations. This assessment is valid for a period of five
years as specified in Section 66265.192 (h).
3
