•
•
• spray enters the well. The well designation will be painted on the outside of the
• protective casing using white paint and a stencil. The identification will be accomplished
• after the casing is painted. All painting will be completed and dry prior to well
• development. The site will be restored at the completion of the well, with sites graded to
original contours.
•
• D. WELL DEVELOPMENT
The monitoring wells will be cleaned and developed to improve the permeability of the
zone around the well screen, and to permit the collection of sediment-free groundwater
• samples. The development of the monitoring well will be performed as soon as practical
• after well installation, but no sooner than 24 consecutive hours after grout seal placement.
• The development purging requirement will be ten well casing volumes, with a turbidity
goal of 10 NTU and stabilization of pH, electroconductivity(EC), and temperature.
•
• Well development will be accomplished with a pump and/or a bottom discharge/filling
• bailer(for sediment removal) and surge block. Well development will be completed at
least four consecutive days before well sampling. Development will proceed in the
• manner described below until the well water is clear to the unaided eye and the sediment
• thickness remaining within the well is less than 5 percent of the screen length. No
• dispersing agents, acids, disinfectants, or other additives will be used during development
• or at any other time be introduced to the well. During development, water will be
removed throughout the entire water column by periodically lowering and raising the
• pump intake (or bailer stopping point).
During development and test pumping of the wells, development water will be conveyed
away from the well site in such a manner as to minimize erosion and avoid inundation.
• Water, including mud, sand, and debris pumped from the well during development and
• testing, will be disposed of in such a manner as not to damage or interfere with work or
• property of others.
• Part of the well development will be the washing of the entire well cap and the interior of
• the well casing above the water table using only water from the well. The result of this
• operation will be a well casing free of extraneous materials (grout, bentonite, sand, etc.)
• inside the riser, well cap, and blank casing between the top of the well casing and the
water table. The washing will be conducted before and/or during development.
•
• The following data will be recorded as part of development:
• . Well designation.
•
• • Date(s) of well installation.
• Date(s) and time of well development.
• • Static water level from the top of well casing.
•
• Riverbank WWTP Workplan Nolte Associates,Inc.
• March 2005 5 \\SasO\project\SA1542\mon_weMnew\gwmwiwp\wp.doc
•
