Phone (209) 941-7430—fax(209)941-7449
-,v1vw.ci.lathrop.ca.us
November 20, 2014
File: WW 10-15
Attention: Mr.Scott Armstrong,Engineering Geologist
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
11020 Sun Center Drive,#200
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
Reference: Monitoring Well MWR-1 and MWR-2 Removal
Dear Mr. Armstrong,
The City of Lathrop has received a request from Califia LLC,the owner of the property on which
MRW-1 and MWR-2 are located, to remove monitoring wells MWR-1 and MWR-2. Califia has
started the next phase of their River Islands project and the current well locations will interfere
with future infrastructure.
The wells are used to measure depth to groundwater using "continuous" water level monitors; no
water quality data is collected. The wells are included in the City of Lathrop's network of
monitoring wells providing one average daily value to the RWQCB each quarter.
The City of Lathrop has approved the removal of the wells, provided they are replaced at a later
date. After the new Waste Discharge Requirements are issued, River Islands will work with the
City to locate new wells in a location that works best with the future infrastructure and RWQCB
monitoring requirements.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Patrice - ynn
Director of Public Works
City of Lathrop
Attachments: Order R5-2006-0094 Attachment E.1
