I,
03 February 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0343
Analytical results of soil-vapor samples collected during the fourth quarter 2008 are as follows:
• 27 October: Constituents were not reported in the influent and effluent SVE samples;
• 10 November: TPH-g, toluene and total xylenes were reported in the influent SVE sample
at concentrations of 140 micrograms per liter (gg/l), TO gg/1 and 11 qg/l, respectively.
Constituents were not reported in the effluent SVE sample; and
• 01 December: Constituents were not reported in the influent and effluent SVE samples.
Analytical results are summarized in Table 2. Laboratory reports (CTEL Project Nos.
CT214-0810214, -0811098 and-0812008), laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
reports, and chain of custody forms are included in Appendix B. Confirmation numbers for
GeoTracker submittals of laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) are as 'follows:
6999037802, 3549880087 and 5314026355.
The hydrocarbon mass (TPH-g) removed during this operating period was not calculated due to
non-detection of constituents in five of the last six most recent influent soil vapor samples(Table 2)"
4.0. CONCLUSIONS
A total of 3,451 lbs of hydrocarbons as gasoline have been extracted since the system began
operation in January 2006. TPH-g concentrations are declining or below detection levels and appear
to be reaching an asymptotic plateau (Figure 3). Results of rebound testing conducted during the
fourth quarter 2008 indicate the hydrocarbon mass remaining in soil has been reduced to a level that
can no longer be successfully remediated by SVE.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings of environmental activities recounted in this report; AGE recommends
preparation of a work plan to advance confirmation borings to determine the effectiveness of SVE
in accordance with the EHD-prepared letter dated 02 January 2009.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
