l
* 4.0 CONCLUSIONS
Y:.
i
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons decreased in source area wells MW-2 MW-2A.
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) concentrations in MW-2 decreased.
Toluene and total xylenes were detected in the duplicate sample collected from MW-2A, but were
_ not detected in the primary sample. No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in upgradient well
r MW-9; the detection of petroleum hydrocarbons last quarter appears to be a one-time event and
may have occurred because of the flat groundwater gradient and the impact of purging the well,
laboratory contamination or contamination from exhaust from passing vehicles. These results are
consistent with the seasonal variations observed with an increase in the water table elevation over
the past 2 years, except that the concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and
BTEX have decreased significantly. Groundwater flows into a trough and then to the northeast
with a horizontal gradient of 0.002 ft/ft.
t
IY
F i
BPR0lECTS\SANJ0Q5HSA11 Q01 RPT.WPD 6
 1
