2 . 7 Locations of nearby septic tanks and underground utilities:
The facility is connected to a septic tank as shown on
Figure 2 . No underground utilities are known in the
vicinity of the proposed well. Utilities will be located by
Underground Service Alert prior to any subsurface
investigation.
2. 8 Estimates of liquid quantity and composition leaked:
No estimate of liquid quantity discharged to the leach field
can be made with existing information. The constituents
detected in the soil sample are derived from oil and grease.
3 . 0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
3 . 1 Property History
The shop at the back of the property was constructed in 1982
(Figure 2 ) . Prior to that time a residence occupied the
property for at least 20 years. The second building at the
site was was added in 1985 . The buildings are connected to
a septic tank leachline system which had previously served
the residence on the property. Water is piped to the two
buildings from a well on the adjacent property ( Figure 2 ) . A
second leachline at the rear of the back building was
formerly connected to a sump which received rinse water
generated by the truck repair business . This sump and
leachline system has been dismantled, as discussed below.
The shop building was occupied by George' s Truck repair from
approximately 1982-1986. Thereafter the building was vacant
for 6 months to one year and has since housed C&B Cabinets
until the present time. The building on the front of the
parcel was initially a truck parts operation. Thereafter a
company which manufactured cardboard cutting equipment
operated an office in the building. The present tenant is an
engineering/construction company who moved into the building
in October of 1989 .
The current tenant of the front building also uses the yard
to park construction vehicles and to store pipe and related
materials.
3. 2 Hydrogeologic Setting
The property is located on young, poorly-unconsolidated
alluvial deposits comprised of heterogeneous sands, silts,
clays and gravels. Beneath the site to at least a depth of
10 feet the soils consist of relatively clean fine sand.
The property is not within the floodplain of the Stanislaus
River according to the Army Corp of Engineers.
2
