The soil borings were logged following the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) under the
supervision of a Certified Engineering Geologist. Soil materials collected from the borings were field
screened with a photoionization detector (PID). The PID headspace readings represent qualitative
indicators of the presence of volatile organic vapors in the pore space of the soil sample collected. The
headspace readings are presented on the boring logs presented in Appendix B.
Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures included decontaminating the sampling
equipment prior to, and following, each use. Decontamination consisted of washing the direct-push
sampling equipment with an Alconox° solution, followed by a fresh water rinse, and subsequent
distilled water rinse.
Project No S8475-06-70 4- July 9,2003
