14 May 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0343 <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> A traffic-rated well-box will be concreted In over the well casings The proposed well construction <br /> is Illustrated on Figure 3 <br /> Grout will be placed by pumping through tremmie pipe for depths greater than 25 feet The casing, <br /> filter pack and bentonite seal will be placed into the borehole through the interior of the hollow-stem <br /> augers Grouting procedures will be inspected by PHS-EHD personnel <br /> 3 5 WELL DEVELOPMENT <br /> Development will consist of a combination of bailing to remove the mayor portion of fine-grained <br /> sediment from inside the well, surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the filter pack, and <br /> additional bailing to finish the removal of sediment Development activities will be continued until <br /> produced water appears to be sediment-free <br /> 3 6 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> wGround water samples will be collected following Initial development and purging of the ground <br /> water monitoring well, and during succeeding ground water monitoring events <br /> 3 6 1 Monitoring Well Purge Procedures <br /> The static water level will be measured to the nearest 0 01 foot in each well relative to the top of the <br /> well casing using an electric water level indicator Following depth to water measurement, the well <br /> will be purged using a bailer or submersible pump A minimum of three casing volumes of water <br /> will be removed from the well Ground water stabilization parameters (temperature, pH and <br /> conductivity) will be measured at regular intervals during purging If a well is purged dry prior to <br /> evacuating three casing volumes, a ground water sample will be coIIected following 80 percent <br /> recovery of ground water within the well, or more than one hour, but less than 8 hours after purging <br /> 3 6 2 Sample Collection <br /> Water samples will be collected from the monitoring well using a new disposable polyethylene bailer <br /> and placed into laboratory-supplied containers Ground water samples for TPH-g, BTEX, and <br /> oxygenates analyses will be collected into 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric <br /> acid as preservative Samples for TPH-d analysis will be collected into 1-liter amber glass containers <br /> with out preservative Following collection,the samples will be labeled, placed on ice and kept in <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
