' 17 April 2002
. AGE-NC Project No. 97-0343
Rinseate generated during drilling activities was containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved
55-gallon drums and was stored on-site in an area lacking public access. The CPT soil borings were
backfilled over their entire depth range with a portland cement grout mix.
2.2. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
Following advancement of the initial boring to collect litholo is data a H droPunch ground water
sampling tool was attached to the hollow-stem rod assembly and utilized to collect grab ground
water samples from specified depths of an immediately adjacent, twin soil boring. Ground water
samples were collected from the specific depths based on the previously acquired CPT-lithology data
indicating favorable conditions for sampling ground water.
IThe HydroPunch sample tool was pushed into the specific depth interval, then withdrawn
approximately four feet to expose an inlet screen. The interior of the sampling tool filled with water
and a 1-inch outer diameter(O.D.)stainless steel bailer was lowered and utilized to extract a ground
water sample. Following sample collection, the samples were placed in laboratory-supplied
containers, properly labeled and transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical Inc.
. (MAI), a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory. Samples were
analyzed for:
' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015-Modified;
I • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method
8020; and
• The fuel additives methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (D1PE), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETRE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA),
ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260-Modified.
All rinseate generated during drilling activities was containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved
55-gallon drums, and was stored on-site in an area lacking public access. The twinned soil borings
were backfilled over its entire depth with a portland cement grout mix.
2.3. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
Following advancement of an initial boring to collect lithologic data at location CPT-1, a 1.25-inch
• diameter piston soil sampling assembly, loaded with two pre-cleaned brass sleeves, was attached to
the hollow-stem rod assembly and used to collect a soil sample from 31 feet bsg in the twin CPT
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
I
