Box 1810
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95201
Re: Harney Lane Sanitary
Landfill, Lodi, Cali-
fornia
Dear Mr. Horton:
In accordance with Agreement A-87-233 for consulting engineering ser-
vices at the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill , this letter will report on
EMCON' s services for Tasks 4, 5, and 6 which are related to landfill gas
(LFG) monitoring and migration.
SERVICES PERFORMED
During the period between March 26 and 28, 1987, a total of 10 LFG
monitoring probes were installed in native soils around the perimeter of
the refuse-filled areas. The probe identification and locations are
shown on the enclosed Drawing No. 2 (939-01.07) . The borings for the
probes reached depths of 25-1/2 to 45 feet below the ground surface.
Logs of the borings are attached. It should be noted that the logs of
borings should not be used for any purpose other than a general indica-
tion of the types of soils encountered during installation of the
probes. Also please note that 1 of the 11 borings (Boring P-7A) had to
be relocated because of water encountered during excavation.
The installed probes were initially monitored on March 28, 1987 with
measurements taken for pressure and for combustible gas and oxygen con-
centration. The results are shown on Figure 1. On April 3, 1987, the
probes were again monitored for pressure, combustible gas and oxygen
(Figure 2). The gas samples from the probes were also analyzed for
methane, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide content by using EMCON's
portable gas chromatograph. Figure 3 contains these results.
Headquarters:
1921 Ringwood Avenue, San,Ease. California 95131, (408y 275.1444
Branch office:445 W. Garfield Avenue,Glendale.
