Personal protective equipment <br /> • Supplied-air respirator approved by the Mine Safety and <br /> Health Administration (MSHA) and National Institute for <br /> Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) .Respirators may . be <br /> either of the following: <br /> - pressure-demand, self-contained breathing apparatus <br /> (SCBA) , or <br /> pressure-demand, airline respirator (with escape bottle <br /> for atmospheres that are Immediately Dangerous to Life <br /> and Health (IDLH) or where the potential for IDLH <br /> conditions exists) <br /> • Fully encapsulating chemical-resistant suit <br /> • Coveralls (optional) <br /> • Long cotton underwear (optional) <br /> • Gloves (inner) , chemical-resistant <br /> • Boots, chemical-resistant, steel toe and shank (depending on <br /> suit construction, worn over or under suit boot) <br /> • Hard hat (optional) - under suit <br /> • Disposable gloves and boot covers (optional) - worn over <br /> fully encapsulating suit <br /> • Cooling unit (optional) <br /> • Two-way radio communications (optional) - inherently safe <br /> b .
