1) An additional upstream sampling station will be located on Burns Cutoff upstream
from the pumping station discharge.
2) The chemical analyses have been expanded to include benzene, toluene, xylenes,
ethylbenzene (as part of the VOA analysis), general minerals (including sulfate, chloride, specific
conductance, total dissolved solids), metals, and organochlorine pesticides.
3) The Navy intends to obtain 24-hour flow weighted composite samples from the
pumping station discharge.
Surface water sampling should occur once during the dry season and once during the
wet season (total of two sampling events) as stated on page 2-23 of the draft final work plan. A
mistake was made on page 2-4 of the draft final work plan regarding sampling frequency for
groundwater, this should read: "Therefore, groundwater samples will be collected two times -
once during the wet season and once during the dry season."
4.0 SCHEDULE
PRC anticipates beginning well and piezometer installation in mid-September 1991. Thus
monitoring well development and sampling and water level measurements would begin in
November 1991 according to the schedule (Figure 1). The schedule in Figure 1 is based upon
timely regulatory response to this work plan addendum. Delays in response to this work plan
addendum will result in corresponding delays in the remaining project schedule.
The original final draft interim investigation work plan by The MARK Group calls for
both wet-season and dry-season monitoring. According to the current schedule, hydraulic
monitoring begins in November, after the beginning of the traditional wet season (October
through April). Thus an investigation of dry-season hydraulics may require extension of the
project beyond the originally proposed 6-month project duration, assuming a normal season of
rainfall.
9
