k" K L E I N F E L D E R
6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Dour soil borings were advanced in the vicinity of a former UST at the subject site. A total of
thirty nine (39) soil samples were collected for potential chemical analysis. No Hydrocarbon-like
odors or discoloration were present in soil samples collected during advancement of the four= soil
borings. PID readings recorded ii-oni the samples collected ranged from 2.4 to 103 ppmv. It is
believed that the elevated PID readings were related to ionizable soil moisture.
Sixteen of the 39 soil samples collected were analyzed for the following:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel [TPH-D] by EPA Method 8015M
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Gasoline [TPI -G] by EPA Method 801 SM
+ Benzene, To11.te.11e, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8020/5030
r
• Oxygenates including Methyl I,ert-Butyl Ether [MTBE] by EPA Method 8260
The samples were analyzed on a standard laboratory schedule requiring approximately 10 to 15
working days.
None of the requested analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits for the
sixteen soil samples submitted for analyses. For a summary of the results obtained, please refer
to Table I in Chapter 5 of this report.
Based on the results of this assessment. Kleinfelder does not recommend further soil assessment
or mitigation in the vicinity of the former underground storage tank (UST). Additionally,
Kleinfelder recommends regulatory;f:ile closure be granted by the appropriate regulatory agencies
with regard to the former UST location. A copy of this report should be submitted to San
Joaquin County Prlblic Health Services Department, Ernvironn-ental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
and the State of California, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB)
for their review and comment. finally. Kleinfelder reconzniends that the drilling derived wastes
be dumped on the surface of the former UST location following PHS/EHD approval to do so.
This report and the conclusions and recommendations presented, are subject to the "Limitations"
presented in Chapter 7 of this report.
