k" KLEI N FELDER
File No. 20-1147-44
September 28, 1993
Mr. Jim Giotonini
City of Stockton
Department of Public Works
425 N. El Dorado Street, Room 317
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: WORK PLAN
INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING OF MONITORING WELLS
ROUGH AND READY ISLAND
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Giotonini:
The purpose of this letter is to provide more details regarding the installation and sampling of
six monitoring wells and four test borings for the West Side Sewer project. Reference is made
to our proposal dated July 29, 1993, which briefly described our work plan. We propose
drilling at the locations shown on Plate 1, as discussed in our meeting on July 19, 1993, and
as specified in our proposal. We anticipate positioning wells away from travelled areas, such
as near fences, poles, etc. However, if a well must be positioned in a well-travelled area,
flush mount covers will be used to minimize exposure of the well to potential damage.
All wells will be advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig, equipped with hollow stem augers.
During drilling, an experienced environmental geologist or engineer will classify the soil.
Construction details for shallow ground water monitoring wells are shown on Plate 2 and are
as follows:
• The well casing will be 2-inch inside diameter, flush threaded joint, schedule 40 PVC
pipe.
• The wells will be constructed in 6-inch diameter borings.
• Well screen sections will be perforated with 0.010- or .02-inch factory-cut slots. This
parameter will be assessed (and modified if required) after the borings are logged and,
if warranted, a sieve test has been performed and the results reviewed.
Copyright 1993 Kleinfelder, Inc.
