ameO
Memo
To: Mike Infurna Project: 14143.000 Task 5
From: Heidi Dietrich
Tel: (510) 663-4133
Fax: (510) 663-4141 7f
Date: 2/18/2010
28
Subject: Workplan for Soil and Groundwater Borings at the Tracy Railyard Site
On behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron), AMEC Geomatrix
plans to advance 14 soil borings at 6 locations at the Tracy Railyard site (located at 6th St. and
Central Ave. in Tracy, CA) from March 8 to 10, 2010. Two of the boring locations will be
sampled for soil and groundwater to a depth of 22 feet bgs using a Geoprobe direct push rig
operated by PeneCore Drilling. The other 4 locations will be sampled for groundwater only, with
three hydropunch borings advanced per location to different depths, for a total of 12 hydropunch
borings. Six of the groundwater samples will be collected at depths up to 45 feet bgs using a
Geoprobe direct push rig operated by PeneCore Drilling. The remaining six groundwater
samples will be collected at depths up to 85 feet bgs using a CPT direct push rig operated by
Gregg Drilling. Boring locations are shown on the Figure attached.
The borings will be destroyed by using Portland Type 1/II neat cement grout, placed from total
depth to 3 feet bgs using a tremie pipe. The top 3 feet will be filled with hydrated bentonite
granules to ground surface. All soil cuttings and wash/purge water will be properly stored on
site in 55-gallon drums to be removed by Chevron. Please contact me or Mari Gilmore at
510-663-4163 with any questions.
0 6
Sincerely yours, 7 U
AMEC Geomatrix, Inc.
728
9
Heidi Dietrich
Staff Scientist
Direct Tel.: 510-663-4133
Direct Fax: 510-663-4141
E-mail: heidi.dietrich@amec.com
is\project\14000\14143.000\5000 investigation\permits\memosoil bore.doc
AMEC Geomatrix, Inc.
2101 Webster Street, 12th Floor
Oakland,California
USA 94612-3066
Tel (510)663-4100l
Fax (510)663-414141 .
