In addition,a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational
Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and
a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL AND GROUNDWATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance three soil probe borings using direct push technology near the former UST
areas on the site to assess for petroleum hydrocarbon- and/or MTBE-impacted soil and/or ground
water beneath the site. The three probe borings will be advanced to approximately 35 feet bsg. As
each boring is advanced, soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg and
extending to the total probe boring depths. The proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in
Figure 2; the proposed probe boring locations may be modified due to field observations. Field
procedures for advancement of probe borings and collection of soil and groundwater samples are
presented in Sections 4.1 through 4.3.
Ground water and selected soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory
analysis. The selected samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPH-d), in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX)and methyl-tert-butyl-ether(MTBE)in
accordance with EPA Method 8020; and
• Total lead in accordance with EPA Method 7420.
Laboratory reports for soil and ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be
presented in a report of findings and recommendations.
3.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description of the work
performed and results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions, applicable recommendations, and
maps will be included in the report. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California
Registered Geologist.
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
