t01 April 2004
. AGE-NC Protect No 02-0950
' 2 2 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
The depth to ground water in each monitoring well was measured from the top of the well casing to
' the nearest 0 01-foot utilizing a Solinst water level meter Ground water elevation in each well was
calculated by subtracting the measured depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevation
(Table 3)
' After water levels were measured,approximately 7 0 gallons of water(a minimum of 3 casing-water
volumes per well)were purged from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 using a steel bailer in
' well MW-1 and Waterra hose bailers in wells MW-2 and MW-3 Ground water temperature,pH and
conductivity were measured at regular Intervals during purging using an Oakton water analyzer
Field sheets and data are Included in Appendix C Purged water was stored on-site in properly
' labeled, 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums
' 2 2 2 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
I • Water samples were collected from each purged well using a dedicated inertia pump hose after
allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume Each water
sample was transferred into laboratory-supplied 40-m1 volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials
I containing 0 5 ml of hydrochloric acid as preservative, one-liter amber glass containers without a
sample preservative and 16-oz plastic bottles containing 5 milliliters of nitric acid as a sample
preservative After collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and
transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California
Department of Health Services-certified analytical laboratory, for analysis The samples were
analyzed for
I • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M,
• BTEX and fuel additives in accordance with EPA Method 8260B, and
• Total lead in accordance with EPA Method 6010B
3.0. FINDINGS
IGround water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
21 October 2003 The contaminant impact to soil and ground water was quantified from the
laboratory analytical data
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmeatal,Inc
