1
' 30 December 2002
• AGE-NC Project No 02-0450
' in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to CTEL The samples were analyzed
for the same petroleum hydrocarbon products listed In Section 3 2
' 4.0. FINDINGS
' The stratigraphy and groundwater hydro geology underlying the site was characterized from the field
descriptions Contaminant impact to ground water and soil samples was assessed by laboratory
analysis
41 STRATIGRAPHY
' Fill material consisting of well compacted clay and silt was encountered from surface grade to
approximately 10 feet below surface grade(bsg) Reddish-brown,brown,gray or gray-green silt and
' clay were generally encountered between 10 feet and approximately 25 feet bsg, interbedded with
the silt and clay in the area of boring B2 were thin, laterally discontinuous fine sand layers at
Iapproximately 10 feet to 12 feet bsg and 25 feet to 26 feet bsg(Figure 3)
Gray to dark gray coarse sand was encountered at approximately 25 feet bsg in borings B1 and B2
I and between 25 and 30 feet bsg in boring B3, the coarse sand was poorly-graded with the exception
of the one well--graded sample at B3-25 Bluish-gray to gray-green clay underlies the sand, from
approximately 30 feet bsg to the total depth of the borings
IHydrocarbon-like odor was detected in soil samples collected above from borings B1 and B2 from
10 feet to 35 feet bsg and B3 from 25 feet to 35 feet bsg In addition, organic vapor was detected by
the OVM in soil samples collected from all three bonngs at concentrations as high as above the
OVM's maximum detection limit of 2,000 parts per million(ppm)in samples B 1-20,B 1-25,B2-15,
B2-20, B2-25, B3-30 and B3-35
A strathgraphlc cross section is depicted in Figure 3 The soil boring logs are provided in
Appendix A, organic vapor field measurements are included on the bonng logs
4 2 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
' A total of six soil samples were analyzed for the petroleum hydrocarbon products listed in
' Section 3 2
• TPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from all three borings at a maximum
concentration of 22,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), In sample B2-15
' Advanced GeaEnvirvnmental,Inc
I
