106 West Second Street
,I
confirmed with SurmnaTM canisters that are analyzed using TO-14A (USEPA, 1999a) or
TO-15 (USEPA, 1999b), as appropriate. Collection of one duplicate sample in a
Summa TM canister would be appropriate for the proposed scope of work. EHD
conditionally approves the work plan contingent upon collection and analysis of a duplicate
soil gas sample in the manner just described, preferably in an area of suspected impacted
soil gas.
Soil gas samples will be analyzed by an onsite State-of-California certified laboratory for
total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg); benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary butyl
alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), 1,2-dichloroethane (1;2-DCA), and 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB).
Selected soil gas samples will also be analyzed for methane, oxygen, and carbon dioxide.
Although soil gas detection limits were not presented in the work plan, it is imperative that
soil gas reporting limits be less than or equal to ESLs and CHHSLs for all COC.
Soil types will be continuously logged for each borehole and soil samples will be collected
at the base of each borehole for analysis for TPHg, BTEX, MTBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME,
ETBE, 1,2-DCA, and EDB.
Submit a well/boring permit application and permit/inspection fee of$383 to EHD by April
1, 2008,.and complete the fieldwork by April 24, 2008. Notify EHD at least a week prior
to initiating the approved fieldwork.
