The new labeling for the hazardous waste composition and
hazardous properties appears adequate. Two questions I have are how do employees determine whether a
pharmaceutical is RCRA versus non-RCRA, and how does Kaiser manage non-RCRA pharmaceutical waste?

Thank you,

Elianna Florido, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
P: (209) 468-0343 | F: (209) 468-3433 | E: eflorido@sjgov.org

From: Felisa F Umana <Felisa.F.Umana@kp.org>
Sent: Friday, June 19, 2020 3:48 PM
To: Florido, Elianna [EHD] <eflorido@sjgov.org>
Cc: Tonia J Shaw <Tonia.J.Shaw@kp.org>
Subject: RE: Kaiser Foundation & Medical Office Building - 2020 Hazardous Waste Inspections

CAUTION: This email is originated from outside of the organization. The hazardous waste labeling composition will be as
follows:

Hazardous Waste – RCRA Pharmaceuticals and Over-the Counter Healthcare Products.

Hazards- Flammable and Toxic

Our hazardous waste vendor has provided us with this disposal waste stream profile, as their incinerators are permitted
to manage the hazardous waste products in a single container. Staff are only instructed to dispose of closed products into
the container. There are no free-flowing liquids disposed of within these containers that would trigger any DOT
incompatibility restrictions for transportation.

The waste profile for the items placed in the container allows for the following items.
