Murray of Murray &
Associates. The purpose of the investigation was to develop
preliminary information about the nature and extent of potential
contamination at the site, as well as to determine, very
preliminarily, the possible range of cleanup costs. As you will
see from the document, Dr. Murray took soils borings only and used
a soil gas apparatus to develop an "educated guess" about the areal
and vertical extend of contamination. No wells were: installed, no
pizometers were used, and- no samples were sent to any laboratory
for chemical analysis.
Dr. Murray has now been asked by the Langstons to prepare
a preliminary site investigation workplan to be .submitted to your
unit. While there is still ongoing litigation dealing with the
subjects of how the leak was created and who should bear financial
responsibility for the consequences, the Langstons certainly desire
to be "in regulatory compliance" and to not jeopardize any chance
they may have to be, and remain, eligible for AB 2004 funding.
`ti-
