Seventh St.
Lathrop, CA., 95330
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)
has reviewed the Quarterly Monitoring Report for the sampling event held on
November 25, 1997 and has the following comments.
In PHS-EHD correspondence dated October 29, 1997,you were advised to include EPA
Method 8260 for groundwater analyses of gasoline additives/oxygenates in the Fourth
Quarter Monitoring event. This has not be complied with and no 8260 data was
included in this report as required by PHS-EHD. A sampling event is required
immediately for the 8260 constituents. Please call and schedule the appointment
with Michael Infurna now.
In addition, PHS-EHD has previously requested in writing that all groundwater sample
data be reported in "ug/1" (ppb) and not the "mg/l"that this report and all reports
since August 1996 have utilized. Information included in the "Conclusions and
Recommendations" reported Gasoline at "14 mg/k". This error,as well as the
incorrect units for Gasoline in the tables and narratives included in this most recent
report, will need to be corrected and the report re-submitted to PHS-EHD for review.
Reports submitted in the future with incorrect units or not in compliance with PHS-
EHD requests will not be accepted. Please have your consultant correct and re-
submit this Fourth Quarter Monitoring report, including the 8260 data,by February
13, 1998.
The change in direction in the groundwater gradient to the south-southwest now places
this site in a position of not having the down-gradient lateral limit of the groundwater
plume defined. If the groundwater gradient continues to flow in this direction,an
additional monitoring well will need to be placed so that the lateral extent of the
contaminated groundwater plume can be determined. PHS-EHD will advise you as
review of the future Quarterly Reports indicate this condition is continuing.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
