Messrs Trommer and LL oon 16 June 2008
1
Preliminary Five-Year Review Letters Page 4 of 7
Various Sites
1140 Hammer Lane, W.
• The CUF has recommended review of the work plan to replace well MW-5 and
evaluate additional remediation requirements; the EHD agrees with the
recommendation, has reviewed the work plan and issued a permit for destruction
of the current MW-5. The well will be reinstalled approximately 30 feet south of its
current position.
103 E Street, N.
r
• This site has been previously commented on by the EHD and the EHD agrees
with the recommendation of the revised letter.
2537 Waterloo Road, E.
• The CUF has recommended that the RP be directed to assess remedial
technologies and implement active remediation without delay. The EHD has
recently issued an approval for an interim corrective action plan and a work plan
that incorporates a pump and treat system coupled with SVE/IAS; three
additional monitoring wells are to be installed toward the west for additional
plume delineation and two extraction wells are to be installed for remediation
purposes.
290 Main Street N.
• CUF recommends implementing the approved remedial technology; the EHD
agrees. The discharge permit for treated water has been obtained, but the
building permit has not been issued by the City of Manteca; it is estimated that an
additional four weeks or so will be needed before construction is initiated.
545 Miner Street E.
• CUF recommends closure consideration, the EHD cannot agree at this time.
Recent vapor samples have exceeded the Tier 1 Surfer ESLs and soil data for
i TPHg, TPHd, naphthalene, benzene and xylenes exceed gross contamination;
further evaluation of the data is needed. The EHD will direct the RP to
demonstrate a relationship between the noted contamination and the UST
system release and to evaluate potential remediation requirements.
f595 11th Street E.
• The CUF recommended closure consideration, the EHD agrees with this
recommendation. The vapor intrusion evaluation has been performed and
reported to not be a significant concern, a, closure summary report has been
submitted and is pending EHD review.
i 1001 Yosemite Avenue E.
i The CUF recommends site closure consideration, the EHD agrees with the
j recommendation. A soil vapor investigation has been conducted, but not yet
reported; a site closure summary report has been submitted, but is pending EHD
review.
5-Year Review Comment Letter 061608:doc
