. 23 June 2000
AGE-NC Project No 98-0511
3 3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING
The proposed monitoring wells will provide repeatable sampling points for the monitoring of
petroleum hydrocarbon-impact to ground water and allow determination of ground water flow
direction The procedures for soil sampling, monitoring well installation, well development and
ground water sampling are presented in Section 4 1 , Section 4 2 , Section 4 3 , and Section 4 4 ,
respectively
3 3 1 Monitoring Well Installation and Development
Following completion of the pilot borings, two-inch diameter monitoring wells will be installed in
each of the bonngs Ground water monitoring wells will consist of 20 feet of well screen section
The well screen section will be installed across the observed water table level with five feet of screen
section extending above the water level and fifteen feet of screen section extending below the water
table level Based on available information, it is anticipated that the total depth of the monitoring
wells will be approximately 27 feet bsg Monitoring wells will be completed as described in Section
. 42
Following well installation, the wells will be developed to maximize water flow into the well and
minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during purging for monitoring
events Field procedures for monitoring well installation and development are presented in Sections
4 2 and 4 3, respectively
The elevations of the finished ground water monitoring well-casing tops will be surveyed by a
licenced surveyor
3 3 2 Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis
Following installation and development of the monitoring wells, the new monitoring wells will be
incorporated into the regular quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling events at the site
Ground water samples will be collected from the proposed monitoring wells and submitted for
laboratory analysis Ground water samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents
• TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030,
• BTEX and MTBE by EPA Method 8020, and
. • MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME and TBA by EPA Method 8260
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
