' 30 April 2003
AGE-NC Project No 98-0511
' toluene were detected in the sample from well MW-5 at concentrations of 4 8 µg11 and I I µg/l,
respectively BTE&X constituents were not detected In samples collected from the other six wells
' Utilizing EPA Method 8260B, MTBE was detected in the ground water samples collected from
MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations of 1 9 µg/1 and 64 µg/1,respectively 1,2-DCA was detected in
' the sample collected from MW-5 at a concentration of 2 1 µg/1 No other fuel addrtivies were
detected above laboratory reporting limits
' Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Tables 2 and 3 The inferred lateral
distribution of TPH-g,benzene and MTBE is Illustrated on Figure 4 Copies of the laboratory report
(MAI Lab IDs 0303483-001 through 0303483-008) and chain-of-custody forms are provided in
' Appendix B
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
• Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following
• On 26 March 2003 the ground water elevation in the monitored area averaged 189 feet
above mean sea level with the ground water elevation increasing approximately 17 feet since
the previous quarter The ground water flow direction was inferred to be generally westerly
with a hydraulic gradient ranging from 0 002 ft/ft to 0 003 ft/ft
I • TPH-g was detected in ground water samples MW-1 and MW-5 at concentrations as high
as 11,000 µg/1 (MW-1) BTE&X compounds were also detected in sample MW-1 at
concentrations of 140 µg/1 to 2,400 µg/1 Benzene and toluene were also detected in the
sample collected from well MW-5 at concentrations of 4 8 µg/1 and 1 1 µg/1, respectively
BTE&X constituents were not detected in samples collected from the other six monitoring
wells Several of these constituents exceed the DHS Maximum Contaminant Levels(MCL)
in drinking water
• MTBE was detected in samples MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations of 19 µg/1 and 64µg/l,
respectively The concentration of MTBE in sample MW-5 was above the MCL (13 µg/1)
for MTBE in drinking water In addition, 1,2-DCA was detected at a low concentration in
sample MW-5, but the concentration was above the DHS MCL for drinking water
• Hydrocarbon-impacted groundwater is not defined vertically and laterally along the east side
of the site
•
Advanced GeoEnwronrnental,Inc
1
