Generally,the
soil encountered in the boring was similar to the soils reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Survey
for the area (USDA, 1992). The table below presents the soil log for the percolation test location.
Table 3.
Soil Boring Logs
Depth Interval (inches) Soil Type Unified Soil Classification
16475 Tide Road
0-41 Brown,dry,sandy loam SM
A visual inspection of the soil from on-site auguring indicates a moderate potential for percolation in
sandy loam.A percolation test is the best method to determine the suitability of the soils for a septic
disposal area. Please see the next section for percolation test results. Generally speaking,
coarser-grained soils have much greater potential for percolation than fine-grained or cemented
soils.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
A site map indicating the location of the percolation test hole location for the parcel is included as
Plate 2 in Appendix A of this report.
At 16475 Tide Road, one shallow percolation test was placed approximately 190 feet northwest of
the parcel property marker located in the northeast corner, and approximately 17 feet southeast of
the northern property boundary.
