Until the EHD notifies you that this site qualifies for
site closure, sampling and monitoring the wells are still required. Please sample all monitoring wells for
all current and previously suspended analytes during the fourth quarter 2011. The EHD will allow a two-
month remedial shut down period to conduct a rebound test. Please reactivate the soil vapor extraction
system after two months of shut-down and report the findings to the EHD. If you can support conclusions
that no additional remedial efforts are needed, the EHD will continue with the NFAR process.
In correspondence dated May 27, 2011, the EHD advised you that prior to a site being granted a no
further action status, a soil vapor intrusion evaluation must be submitted to and approved by the EHD. A
work plan to collect soil gas samples or submittal of a technical justification as to why no soil gas
sampling is required is due at the EHD by November 18, 2011. If soil gas samples are to be collected,
please follow San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (SFBRWQCB) guidelines for
Environmental Screening Levels (ESL) to determine if a potential vapor intrusion risk to the public is
present from the residual contamination at the site.
If you
have any questions, please contact Michael infurna at (209)468--334554.
Michael J.
