Former Canteen Corporation Facility
1500 Shaw Road
Stockton, California 95205
Executive Summary
The Former Canteen Facility is located at 1500 Shaw Road, just east of Highway 99, between
Waterloo Road (Highway 88) and Fremont Street (Highway 26). The one-acre property is zoned
for manufacturing and light industrial use; there are no residences in the immediate area.
According to the San Joaquin County Flood Control District map, no water wells are located '..
within one=half mile of the site. The site is currently a commercial business.
A petroleum hydrocarbon release'from an underground storage tank, discovered in 1992,
identified a need for assessment and corrective action at the site. Results of the soil and
groundwater sampling conducted;during the assessment portion of the project indicate that the
horizontal extent of the hydrocarbon impact from the underground storage tank (UST) release
has been delineated. Concentrations of hydrocarbons detected in the soil exceeded the
Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Region 9 Preliminary Remediation Goals (PRGs).
Concentrations of dissolved-phase hydrocarbons in the groundwater exceed the California
Department of Health Services Drinking Water Standard Maximum Contaminant Levels
(CAMCL).
Cleanup Goals
The following cleanup target goals have been set for the site:
• Remediate dissolved-phase contamination to below the drinking water CAMCLs
that have been established by the CA DOH.
• Remediate sorbed-phase soil contamination to below health-based PRG levels.
Estimates of the hydrocarbon mass, removal rates, and remediation time are presented in the
Table below.
;an,s Estimated <Inthal E R Est mated ;E
NP
{j a R ' 1Vlass F' ` Rejnoval Rate sRemedaation
cted
"Mediaa4e 4 .._ lbs ' , 'TT7 lbslhr
u
Soil (Vadose) 20,479 20.8 0.82
Groundwater 1,62 0:049 2.78
Post Corrective Action
Following completion of the corrective action process described above, the remediation
equipment.will be removed from the site. The site will remain a commercial/industrial business.
