• I
The well was advanced to 30' , (drill cuttings as above, ) and a
core was lake from 39_1
_,.to 22P . Recovery was 24" of tan to buff,
silty micaceous clay; moist, friable, with occasszonal white
streaks of what appeared to be gypsum. No odors were noted, and
the PTD meter read zero. The middle sample was preserved_
After drilling to 40' , the well Haa ggrod from 40' tQ 4 ' ;
recovery was 24" of moist, pliable tan to buff clay. No odor or
PID reading was observed. The middle sample at 41' was
preserved.
Drilling continued to 501 ; cuttings were tan to buff clay as
above. A core was aka from 0 ' to 52' , recovery was 24" of tan
to buff clay as in previous core, but not as moist. No odor was
detected, but a PID reading of 2 ppm was measured from the top
portion of the core. The middle sample was sealed and preserved
as described earlier.
The auger flights were advanced to 60 ' ; cuttings were same as
above. The hgje was_ cored from 60 ' to 62" ; recovery was 24" of
tan, to buff silty clay as above. No odor was noted, but the PID
• meter gave a reading of 9 ppm. Again, the middle sample was
presevered for later analysis.
The well was advanced to 70' , when the penetration rate indicated
a change in lithology. A clean sample chamber was lowered into
the augers, anda_Gore was taken from 70' to 72 . Recovery was
24" of tan to buff silty clay, laminated with fine gray sand with
a mottled appearance. There was no noticeable odor or discolor-
ation, but the PID meter registered 164 ppm. The middle core
sample was preserved. Because solid sand had not been encount-
ered, the geologist decided to auger 5 feet, and take another
core
The hole was advanced to 77' , and was cored from 77' too 79' .
Recovery was 24" of tan to buff medium grained loose water sand.
A definite petroleum odor was detected when the barrel was
opened, and a sample measured 164 ppm on the PID meter_ The well
was advanced to 85' preparatory to completing Refer to EXHIBIT
IX for the lithologic log of the well.
After removing the 8 1/4" flights, the hole was enlarged to 10
1/4" , and 4" PVC was run to 85, with 20' of screen on the bottom
and the rest blank. KBIT XIII gives details of the well
completion. Both MW--2 & MW-3 were then grouted to the surface as
described previously.
.
