i <br /> to 20' ; cuttings consisted of tan to buff silty clay; firm but <br /> dry. At 20' , a clean core barrel was inserted, and t���iiole was <br /> cored from 20' to 2'. Recovery was 24" of tan to buff dry silty <br /> clay. There was no odor or evidence of contamination, and a <br /> portion of the core placed in a bag and tested with the PID <br /> meter, (same technique as described above, ) did not show any <br /> reading. The middle tube was sealed and preserved as detailed <br /> above. The core barrel was cleaned and prepared for use. <br /> The well was advanced to 30; drill cuttings were tan to buff <br /> silty clay. At that depth a clean core barrel was inserted into <br /> the flights, and thQ interv&L- '__ was cored as above <br /> When the barrel was retrieved and opened, at consisted of 24" of <br /> tan to buff, silty clay, with traces of organic material. No <br /> odor was noted, and no reading was recorded by the PID meter. <br /> The middle tube was sealed and preserved using proper protocol as <br /> described above. <br /> While the augers were advanced to 40' , the spare core barrel was <br /> cleaned and set aside. Drill cuttings consisted of tan to buff <br /> silty clay, firm, slightly plastic; no odors were detected. <br /> A clean core barrel was inserted into the augers, and a core was <br /> taken fropl_4Q'to 42' . Recovery was 24" of tan to buff, silty <br /> clay; no odors were noted, and the PID meter did not register <br /> when a sample was tested as described above. Drill cuttings and <br /> unpreserved core material was placed in metal drums for storage. <br /> Augers were advanced to 50' ; cuttings were primarily tan to buff <br /> clay as above. A clean barrel was inserted at that depth, and a <br /> core war, m Of jig 52' ; recovery was 24" of tan to buff <br /> clay, dry, hard, firm. No odors were noted, and no PID reading <br /> was recorded A portion of the core was preserved according to <br /> standard procedures. <br /> Augers were advanced to 60' ; drill cuttings as above.A core was <br /> taken from 6Q' to 62' ; recovery was 24" of tan to buff clay, very <br /> hard, dry, with some sandy streaks, & occassional pieces of car- <br /> bonaceous material There was no visible evidence of contamina- <br /> tion, but a faint petroleum odor was noted when the barrel was <br /> opened. A PID reading of 12 ppm was observed when a portion of <br /> the core was placed in a tightly sealed plastic bag and allowed <br /> to set in the sun for several minutes. The middle tube was <br /> preserved for future analysis. <br /> The auger flights were advanced to 70' , drill cuttings were tan <br /> to buff clay as above. At 70' , the bit insert was pulled in <br /> order to install the core barrel; it had obvious moisture on it, <br /> 8 <br />
