the highest water level in this area occurred in the spring of
1986 - approximately 45' bgl at this location; (PLATE IV. )
Groundwater was measured at approximately 68 feet bgl , (41 ' MSL, )
in the four monitoring wells just completed on the property.
In August, 1992, the water table was measured at around 82-83'
bgl, (56' MSL, ) in four (4) monitoring wells located at 1448 Shaw
Road, (U. S. Chemical Co. ) just to the south. This indicates
that either= (1) the water table has risen some 15 feet due to
the heavy rainfall this past winter, or (2) sand development is
increasing towards the north.
LOCATION OF MEARBY nLL5
The property is supplied by city water; according to the San
Joaquin County Flood Control District map, (PLATE V. ) there are
no private or domestic wells within 1/2 mile of the site.
Available records reveal that most wells are completed below 125
feet due to the lack of sufficient aquifers above that depth.
However, as mentioned above, there are four wells on a parcel
• owned by U.S. Chemical just south of where Shaw Road makes a
sharp bend. Those wells were placed to monitor possible ground-
water contamination from a waste-water evaporation pond. The
groundwater gradient measured in August, 1992 on that property
was in a northwesterly direction.
P -OR _USAGE, QF UST
The 10,000 gallon UST had been installed sometime prior to 1984
for the purpose of fueling Canteen Corp. delivery trucks and
company vehicles. According to company personel , it had only
contained unleaded gasoline. Records of fuel purchase and
volumes used are not available. The pump island had been located
on the southeast side of the tank, just at the edge of the
existang carport roof.
SUMMARY OF PRIQH WORK
UST RgMoval= On March 31, 1992, the UST was removed by
Capital Tank Services. Soil samples were taken at the north and
south ends of the tank, and one from the middle, all at depths of
from 12 to 14 feet. Minor contamination was removed from the
location of the pump island, but a soil sample was not taken from
that area.
.
Soil samples taken from the site of the removed tank and the west
end of the spoil stored on location were tested for BTEX, TPH-G,
3
