' San Joaquin County Health Services Re Canteen Corporation Project <br /> September 29, 1992 Overexcavation/Resample Work Plan <br /> 1 � <br /> 5 Laboratory that will collect samples- FGL Environmental . A signed <br />' authorization to release is attached <br /> 6 Remediation Steps- We propose the following steps to mitigate the <br /> existing contamination problem <br />' Prior to actual excavation, two samples will be taken from the former pit <br /> area These samples will be taken from a depth of approximately 10 feet, well <br /> into the area containing the original spoil The samples will be taken from <br />' the backhoe bucket and be used to profile the spoil to Forward, Inc Landfill <br /> Next, we will excavate the top 4 to 5 feet of overburden and stockpile on site <br /> for eventual return to the excavation This soil will be monitored for signs of <br /> contamination After overburden is removed, the remaining soil to a depth of <br />' 12 feet will be loaded and hauled to Forward , Inc. for disposal At the con- <br /> clusion of the excavation a total of 6 soil samples will be taken from strategic <br /> locations on the sidewalls and bottom of the pit area Four samples will be <br />' taken from the sidewalls and two from the bottom The total amount of soil to <br /> be removed for disposal is estimated to be approximately 100 cubic yards . All <br /> sampling will be done at the direction of Wm Hunter & Assoc and SJHS/EHD <br />' representative on site by FGL or the registered professional Samples will be <br /> analyzed for TPH-Gasoline and BTE&X only since no lead or EDB were detected in <br /> the original samples Upon receipt of analytical data decisions will be made <br /> regarding further excavation or backfill Backfill will be accomplished utilizing <br />' pea gravel , the overburden stockpiled on site, 6 to 8 inches of roadbase and <br /> finally blacktop Copies of load tickets and backfill certificate will be <br /> forwarded to SJHD/EHD upon completion Proposed overexcavation size: 12 feet <br /> wide by 30 feet long by 12 feet deep <br /> 7 Timing Sampling can be scheduled within the time frame required after <br /> SJHS/EHD review and approval of this work plan Sample analyses and final <br /> report should be ready for SJHS/EHD review within 2 weeks after excavation is <br /> complete <br /> Attachments <br /> Plate l & 2 <br /> Drawings 1 , 2, 3 , & 4 <br /> FGL Environmental laboratory report #48814-1 <br />' Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest #91592962 <br /> Site Mitigation Acknowledgement/Request for Services Form <br /> Health and Safety Plan <br />' Respectfully submitted, <br />' JIM THORPE OIL, INC <br /> dba RICH-MART CON TRUC ION <br /> L <br />' 1 hard Thorpe <br /> President <br /> 1 <br /> 1 <br />
