I NED F
I 00 407s'#
Former Canteen Facility July 1, 2004
Ouarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report Pa e 3
GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS
The following summarizes the local groundwater gradient and the groundwater analytical
results
iGroundwater Gradient
Interpretation of the monitor well gauging data indicates that there is a southwesterly
' hydraulic gradient across the Site of approximately 0 002 feet/foot Figure 2 illustrates
the groundwater contours and gradient for this gauging event The gradient appears to be
consistent with past gauging events The change in water levels is a result of cyclical
' fluctuations in the weather and the proximity of the site to the Stockton Diverting Canal,
located approximately 1000 feet to the northeast The historical groundwater elevations
' are summarized on Table I
Groundwater Analytical Results
' • Groundwater analytical results are compared to the California Department of Health
Services Drinking Water Standard Maximum Contaminant Levels (CAMCL) Analysis
of the groundwater samples obtained from the six Site monitor wells indicated the
' following
' • Benzene was detected in the groundwater samples from monitor wells MW-3,
MW-31), MW-11, MW-13, and MW-13A at concentrations of 2 7, 1 8, 0 46,
14,000, and 5 7 µg/1, respectively The CAMCL for benzene is 10 µg11,
' exceeded in MW-3, MW-3 D, MW-13, and MW-13A
• Toluene was detected in monitor wells MW-13 and MW-13A at concentrations of
' 22,000 and 2 2 pg/l, respectively The CAMCL for toluene is 150 µg11, exceeded
only in MW-13
' • Ethylbenzene was detected in monitor wells MW-3, MW-3D, MW-13, and MW-
13A at concentrations of 0 65, 3 6, 1,400, and 0 75 ug/l, respectively The
CAMCL for ethylbenzene is 700 µg/l, exceeded only in MW-13
' • Total xylenes were detected in monitor wells MW-13 and MW-13A at
concentrations of 14,500 and 3 4 µg11, respectively The CAMCL for total
xylenes is 1,750 µg/L, exceeded only in MW-13
• • TPH(g) was detected in monitor wells MW-3, MW-3A, MW-3D, MW-11, MW-
13, MW-13A, and MW-13B at concentrations ranging from 64 to 190,000 [tg/l
1
