Mr Michael Infurna
April 30,2004
Page 5
n CJ
NCES
Following receipt of the analytical report, a Generator Waste Profile Sheet was submitted to
Forward Landfill in Manteca, California for review and disposal approval The stockpiled soil
was disposed of at Forward Landfill on March 23, 2004 Copies of the laboratory analytical
report, Generator Waste Profile Sheet, and Non-Hazardous Waste Manifests are attached
System Operation and Maintenance
The ICE unit is equipped with several safety features and interlock systems These systems
include
ICE Unit High-Temperature Switch
The operating temperature of the ICE unit engine must remain within safe operating
conditions If the engine temperature exceeds a pre-set level, this interlock (designated as
SAI No 5 on the PFD) will shut off the ICE Unit and the SVE System The SVE and
vapor treatment systems system will remain off until manually reset Upon reset the
cause for the overheating engine will be investigated
Low-Oil Switch
The lubricating oil for the ICE unit engine must be maintained at sufficient levels for safe
operation of the unit If the engine oil gets below a pre-set level, this interlock
S (designated as SAI No 6 on the PFD) will shut off the ICE Unit and the SVE System
The SVE and vapor treatment systems will remain off until manually reset Upon reset,
the remaining oil will be drained from the unit and new lubricating oil will be utilized to
fill the reservoir Potential leaks will be thoroughly investigated
Fire Suppression System
The unit includes one automatic dry chemical suppression system with two rate-
compensated thermostats and manual actuator A spark arrester is installed on the engine
exhaust to protect the well gas source from any flash back from the engine
Important Note: The SVE System may operate without the AS System, but the AS
System may not operate without the SVE System
The ICE unit is equipped with influent and effluent sample ports An onboard computer system
records the system fuel consumption, total extraction vacuum, total air infection pressure, and
total flow rates The computer can be accessed remotely via a telemetry system
Weekly operation and maintenance (O&M) visits are conducted to record system operational
parameters, perform air monitoring, and maintain system components Propane is delivered as
needed to maintain continuous operation
