I Former Canteen Facility April 14, 2004
Quarterly Groundwater Monitormg Report Page 3
GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS
The following summarizes the local groundwater gradient and the groundwater analytical results
Groundwater Gradient
Interpretation of the monitor well gauging data indicates that there is a southwesterly
hydraulic gradient across the Site of approximately 0 002 feet/foot Figure 2 illustrates
I the groundwater contours and gradient for this gauging event The gradient appears to be
consistent with past gauging events The change in water levels is a result of cyclical
fluctuations in the weather and the proximity of the site to the Stockton Diverting Canal,
I located approximately 1000 feet to the northeast The historical groundwater elevations
are summarized on Table 1
IGroundwater Analytical Results
Groundwater analytical results are compared to the California Department of Health
I . Services Drinking Water Standard Maximum Contaminant Levels (CAMCL) Analysis
of the groundwater samples obtained from the six Site monitor wells indicated the
following
I • Benzene was detected in thesam roundwater les from monitor wells MW-3,
g p
I MW-3D, MW-11, MW-13, and MW-13A at concentrations of 2 8, 2 9, 0 55,
26,000, and 0 96 µg/l, respectively The CAMCL for benzene is 1 0 pg/l,
exceeded in MW-3, MW-3D, and MW-13
l . Toluene was detected in monitor wells MW-13 and MW-13A at concentrations of
44,000 and 3 6 µg/l, respectively The CAMCL for toluene is 150 pg/1
• Ethylbenzene was detected in monitor wells MW-3, MW-31), MW-13, and MW-
13A at concentrations of 0 45, 6, 3,200, and 0 74 ug/l, respectively The CAMCL
for ethylbenzene is 700 µg11
• Total xylenes were detected in monitor wells MW-3, MW-31), MW-13, and MW-
13A at concentrations of 0 28, 0 41, 26,100, and 4 µg/l, respectively The
CAMCL for xylenes is 1,750 µg/L
I . TPH(g) was detected in monitor wells MW-3, MW-3A, MW-3D, MW-11, MW-
13, MW-13A, and MW-13B at concentrations ranging from 60 to 270,000 µg/l
I
