Canteen Facility August 31, 2000 <br /> Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report Page 2 <br />• • Gauged Site monitor wells to evaluate the presence or absence of free product and <br /> measure groundwater elevations <br /> • Purged each Site monitor well by removing a minimum of three well volumes using a <br /> purge pump <br /> • Sampled and analyzed groundwater for total petroleum hydrocarbons, gasoline range <br /> (TPHg), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) <br /> • Prepared this Quarterly Status Report summarizing the findings of the assessment <br /> This report presents field observations, results, conclusions and recommendations for additional <br /> work AES has prepared this report in accordance with generally accepted environmental <br /> practice <br /> SITE INVESTIGATION & RESULTS <br /> The field procedures utilized during the quarter are attached <br /> MONITOR WELL SAMPLING <br /> Upon arrival at the Site, the well caps were opened to allow the wells to achieve static conditions <br /> The wells were then gauged to measure groundwater elevations (Table 1) and purged with a <br /> submersible Grundfos® pump until three casing volumes of groundwater had been recovered <br /> Field measurements for conductivity, pH and temperature were taken during purging to ensure <br /> the collection of formation groundwater Groundwater samples were recovered from the <br /> seventeen monitor wells on March 28 through 30, 2000 <br /> During purging of the monitor wells, neither non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) nor hydrocarbon <br /> sheen were noted on the purged groundwater Gasoline odors were detected in monitor wells <br /> MW-4, MW-13, MW-13A, and MW-13B (Figure 2) <br /> After purging, samples were collected using pre-cleaned disposable bailers and then transferred to <br /> laboratory provided containers for analysis of TPH(g) and BTEX The samples were transported <br /> under chain-of-custody to Argon Laboratories, Inc , of Ceres, California, a California accredited <br /> analytical laboratory Analytical procedures and results are discussed in the following section <br /> GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS <br /> The following sections summarize the local groundwater gradient and the results from chemical <br /> analysis of groundwater samples <br />
